Our West Adams Team

At West Adams, we have a very diverse group of personalities. Some of us are more outgoing than others, but everyone makes a great contribution to the team. As time goes on, we have learned to be honest with each other in order to be productive. James has been very valuable in filming interviews and does a great job of getting the students to become comfortable in answering questions. Kady is great at creating discussions in the classroom. It’s been fun having discussions with the students and being able to talk about serious topics like stereotypes, teen pregnancy, and women’s rights. Abel, Lonnie and I have become connected to specific students in the class, and have found that it’s helpful in inspiring conversation in the class discussion and in getting the students to volunteer for interviews.

As we’ve spent more time together, we’ve been able to be more honest about the direction that we think the documentary should go. Now that we have all of our footage and have begun editing, we’ve disagreed in many situations but still find that we can come to agreement when we need to. We’ve been doing our best to be in the IML but our contradicting schedules have made it difficult. We’ve agreed to have at least two people editing at a time, so we can make sure to have the opinions and ideas of the team represented. We all have a common goal – we what to honestly represent the students and create something that they can be proud of and relate to.
