Hey everyone:
So as you know if you were in class on Tuesday, we're canceling class Thursday, 2/10 to give you time to coordinate your groups and plan for your first visits.
We'll be meeting again Tuesday in our usual classrooms to discuss A2, your research paper. As preparation, you might start thinking about questions that might yield interesting research projects. Ideally, these questions will emerge from your site visits, but they can also take shape from your discipline. I recommend starting small: instead of "What's the problem with education in America?" think about "Why don't I notice any science labs in the school I'm visiting?"
On Thursday, 2/17 we'll be meeting in Leavey Learning Lab B for a library session designed to brush up your knowledge of databases and research strategies.
We'll hand out due dates for A2 when we hand out the prompt on Tuesday. See you then!
PS: Don't forget to post to the blog when you complete your first site visit. See the questions that John has posted for guidance. And feel free, too, to engage in a discussion via the comments section rather than posting your own separate blog entry.
